Retreat Schedule
Thursday, August 8th (all activites to take place at Samanda’s)
2:00 pm Pre-Retreat Workshop: Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (Skills check-off; test must be completed online ahead of time; details coming soon on the website and Facebook page – fee and deadline/instructions for registration)
4pm: Registration/Welcome Table
5pm: Dinner & Ice Breaker
6:30: Break Outs:
• Internal Exams and Dilation (hands-on experience for students)
• Fetal Positioning & Manual Rotation for Midwives
8pm: Dessert Bar and “Midwives Charades”
Friday, August 9th (all events to be at Peace UCC)
7:30-8:30: Breakfast & Registration/Welcome Table
8:30-9:30: Midwives’ Money (payment, insurance, bartering, contracts, taxes, etc) Jessica Henman, CNM, CPM 9:45-10:15: Drill Stations (Choose one): • Hemorrhage and Shock
• Neonatal Resuscitation
• Shoulder Dystocia and/or Breech
10:30: Grief and Loss as a Midwife (Collene Whitelock, CPM, Samanda Rossi)
Noon: Lunch with Ice Breaker
1-2:45: Cultural Sensitivity (speaker + panel) – “Serving Families Who are Different than You”
3-5:30: MMA Business Meeting (and Ice Cream Sundae Bar)
6:00: Dinner
7-8pm: Break Outs (choose one):
• Sexually Transmitted Diseases (Linsey Kornya, CPM)
• Essential Oils for Midwives (Mary Walsh, CPM)
• Anti-Racism Training (Sherry Payne, BSN)
8pm: Off-Call Fun Drinks and Dancing Out or Board Games at Home
Saturday, August 10th (all events at Peace UCC except those after 12:30)
8am: Breakfast 9-10:30: The Creighton Method, progesterone, and adverse effects of low progesterone in the 2nd and 3rd trimester (Amy Grawey, MD) 10:30-11:30: Intimacy and Sex Issues Postpartum
11:30- 1:00: Lunch, Wrap Up, and Clean up after yourself!
PRE-REGISTRATION: MMA is a State-of-Missouri not-for-profit organization, therefore all retreat fees and dues are donations. MMA is not a Federal 501c3, however, so donations are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. They may or may not be deductible as legitimate businesses expenses. Please consult your tax professional if you have questions about what is deductible and what is not.
*Please note that our office must receive your pre-registration by August 1st. If pre-registration has not been received by that date you will need to pay at the door.

ACCOMODATIONS:
Homes: Samanda and various others nearby have offered their homes for sleeping. Accomodations in a home may include a bed, couch, or mattress on the floor.
Hotel: Midwives and guests who wish to stay in a hotel may make arrangements at any nearby hotel. Here are two that are very close to the location of the retreat:

What to bring: Bedding, pillow, towel, snacks; a video, chart, story or question to share
Work exchange are available to those in need. Don't let finances keep you from attending the retreat! Contact Treasurer@MissouriMidwivesAssociation.org if you are interested in scholarship and/or work exchange.
